Dear Our Valuable Partners and Friends,
Greetings from Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA).
Throughout all these years, WTIA has continued to explore the possibilities in promoting the adoption of innovative technologies and dedicated ourselves to contributing to the development of the core missions of the Association. During the 20-years-adventurous journey, we have encountered numerous challenges and difficulties, especially amid the adverse condition brought by the pandemic. However, with all the support and effort from our partners, executive committees, members, and working team, we have grown stronger and come through the hard times together.
Nurturing talents for a better future
As part of the ICT Industry, WTIA is committed to striving forward the industry development and enhancing the overall industrial competitiveness. Apart from organising various workshops, seminars, and competitions, in recent years, WTIA actively engaged in enhancing Hong Kong students’ interests and knowledge in information technology by launching the “Innovation and Technology Festival” for both secondary and primary school students. The festival aims to provide opportunities for students to take part in IT development in their early stages and foster their interest in pursuing a career in I&T after graduation.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, both the individual and business sector has significantly increased their demand toward wireless technology. The drastic change in the business environment has created a gateway and various opportunities for local talents to participate in the IT industry. As a result, the task of talent cultivation has become critical more than ever. As transformation takes place rapidly, not only the amateur but also the IT veterans must broaden their horizons and knowledge in order to keep on track of the IT mainstream.
Promoting innovation and creativity as core missions
Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) will continue to work closely with our members on technologies promotion and talent cultivation which are deemed as the two key pillars of the Association’s future development. Besides working with members, WTIA is collaborating with local education institutions to organise a series of technical training courses that cover various aspects to cope with the unique needs of IT freshmen, administrators, and industry professionals.
Starting a new chapter for the next 20
In view of the rapid growth of blockchain technology, we have established a new task force, namely Web3.0 and Metaverse, which will be concentrating on the trend of those major components of Web3.0 such as Decentralized Applications (DApps), Non-Fungible Token (NFT), Decentralized Finance (DeFi). Moreover, an omnichannel industrial magazine “InsideW” will be launched in both physical and virtual versions. Through the new initiatives, we are eager to enhance the market exposure of our WTIA members and provide first-hand reliable sources of IT news to our industry fellows.
WTIA as a super-connector
Turning challenges of changes into opportunities is our responsibility as a super-connector. We believe the rise of the post-pandemic economy will be led by innovative technologies. Hence, Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) will continue to put a great effort into assisting partners in the IT industry to capture every opportunity, together, we will create another 20 years of success.
